HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt Broncos are on the hunt for an assistant coach. Troy Smith, who joined the team last season for the 2019 portion of its schedule, is departing.

TISDALE — The Tisdale Trojans are going to the Telus Cup Western Regional finals. The hometown team defeated the Manitoba champions, the Brandon Wheat Kings, 6-1, at their third game of the tournament on April 6.

MELFORT — It was another game with a high-scoring first period – but unlike Game 3, Game 4 of the semifinals went to the Melfort Mustangs.

TISDALE — With a 3-0 victory, the Tisdale Trojans have won their second game of the Telus Cup Western Regionals against their fellow Saskatchewan team, the Notre Dame Hounds.

Team Silvernagle is in the field for the 2019 Humpty’s Champions Cup in Saskatoon. The team of Robyn Silvernagle, Stefanie Lawton, Jessie Hunkin and Kara Thevenot will be in that event running April 23-28 in Saskatoon.

TISDALE — Thanks to an onslaught of shots, the Tisdale Trojans defeated the Thunder Bay Kings 3-1. The Telus Cup Western Regional game against the Northern Ontario on March 4 saw the Trojans make 41 shots on net, compared to only 15 for the Kings.

The Battlefords AA Barons fell short in their provincial midget final game in Swift Current Wednesday night. They lost 2-0 to the Swift Current AA Broncos at the Credit Union iPlex Wednesday night.

The Battlefords North Stars are headed to the Canalta Cup, so it should surprise no one that the performance of two notable Battlefords North Stars players against the Flin Flon Bombers and Yorkton Terriers earned them Player of the Week honors.

EAST CENTRAL — Lake Lenore’s Eric Bollefer said the best part of winning the American Collegiate Hockey Association championship was the first moment when you lift the cup.

MELFORT — The Melfort Mustangs could not overcome the flood of goals that came their way in the first period. With a 4-2 decision, the Estevan Bruins won Game 4 of the semifinals April 3.
