TISDALE 鈥� Trojans goalie Tanner Martin received both the provincial top goalie and the goalie most valuable player award from the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League (SMAAAHL) at the Trojans鈥� awards night April 13.

The Battlefords North Stars are back in the lead in the Canalta Cup finals after a 4-2 road win over the Melfort Mustangs at the Northern Lights Palace.

MELFORT 鈥� After matching each other in score in the first half of the game, the Melfort Mustangs lost the third game of the finals after the Battlefords North Stars made a breakthrough late in the second period.

The Canalta Cup finals head to Melfort all tied up after the Mustangs shut out the North Stars 1-0 Saturday night. The North Stars simply could not find an answer to Shawn Parkinson who stopped all 28 Battlefords shots on the night.

MELFORT 鈥� With a single goal to their name, the Melfort Mustangs won the second game of the finals against the Battlefords North Stars 1-0. The April 13 victory ties the seven-game series 1-1.

The Battlefords North Stars blew open a tight contest with the Melfort Mustangs in the late going to win game one of the Canalta Cup finals 6-2.

MELFORT 鈥� Hope for a third period comeback was crushed for the Melfort Mustangs as the Battlefords' North Stars used the final minutes of the game to sew up a win. In the first game of the finals on April 12, the Mustangs were defeated 6-2.

There is more good signing news for another member of the Battlefords AAA Stars. It was announced Thursday that forward Luke Fennig has signed a letter of intent to go to the Drumheller Dragons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
