A standout player with the Battlefords AAA Stars will soon be playing junior A hockey with the Flin Flon Bombers. The Bombers has announced AAA Stars captain Shayde Peterson has committed to their club for the 2019-20 SJHL season.

BRUNO — At nationals, the Bruno Junior Axemen broomball team won gold on the B-side. Gord Bender, the team’s coach, said they were happy with the results of the tournament, which took place in Rivière-du-Loup, Que. from April 1 to 6.

Results are in for the Battlefords Water Doves Synchronized Swim Club from their recent competition at the Sadie Caulder Knight Provincial Stream Championships. The championships took place at Shaw Centre in Saskatoon from April 1 to 3.

The Hyas baseball team will be inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame, Team Category, Saturday, Aug. 17, in Battleford. The first Hyas baseball team photograph was of a 1920s team wearing knitted uniforms.

HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt Broncos have a new mascot – and they are asking local students to give it a name. Those submitting an entry will not only have to give a name, but also give a reason behind the name.

HUMBOLDT — With eight of its members receiving medals, the Humboldt Karate Club had a strong showing at the provincial spring tournament it hosted at Humboldt Public School last weekend.

The dates have been scheduled for the first four games of the SJHL Canalta Cup finals between the Battlefords North Stars and the Melfort Mustangs. Game one will be at the Civic Centre on Friday night starting at 7:30 p.m.

MELFORT — The Melfort Mustangs will be going to the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League finals, where they'll face the Battlefords North Stars.

TISDALE — The Tisdale Trojans are the Western Canadian champions. With a 6-5 OT decision, the host team won the Telus Cup Western Regionals against the Thunder Bay Kings at the championship game on April 7.
