HUMBOLDT — A familiar voice will be the Humboldt Broncos’ new marketing manager. Rory McGouran, who called Broncos games on local radio station 107.5 Bolt FM in the 2018-19 season, has been hired for the position.

TISDALE — New Tisdale Trojans head coach Dennis Kubat is excited to develop a group of talented young players next season. In May, Kubat was named the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League team’s head coach.

ST. GREGOR — St. Gregor’s Lily Yungmann capped her first season of university track and field off in style. The University of Saskatchewan student-athlete not only qualified for the Canada West Championships, but excelled.

TISDALE — A long season was good for the finances of the Tisdale Trojans. The Trojans’ total account balance is slightly less than $113,000, an increase of a few thousand for the team.

Some area First Nations youth have discovered a positive new passion: soccer. Recently the News-Optimist received a tip about the involvement of Wade Favel, a local player from Poundmaker Cree Nation, in a soccer tournament in Saskatoon.

The first week of action from the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League is in the books, and a few teams have raced to an early 2-0 start.
