MUENSTER — The most valuable player at the Kelly Bates Football Camp had a tremendous attitude, made an effort to get better with every play and was extremely coachable. Emily Yanish is a Grade 8 student from Melville.

There is news of another signing of a member of the Battlefords AAA Stars. The Olds Grizzlys announced a letter of intent signing of Tye Scherger of the AAA Stars to join their club in the AJHL.

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt’s Dylan Lindal capped his hockey season off in style. The son of Fern and Kelsey Lindal was called up to the Tisdale Trojans midget AAA team after his Humboldt Broncos AA squad’s season was over.

Portage wins Anavet Cup in five games

EAST CENTRAL — One Humboldt team, two Englefeld teams, a Lake Lenore team, a Middle Lake team and a St. Brieux team will compete in senior badminton regionals in Melville. The district finals were April 30. The regionals will be held May 4.

Game Four proved the wildest and most entertaining game yet in the Anavet Cup series between the Battlefords North Stars and Portage Terriers. There was no shortage of passion, and comebacks, for both sides.

TISDALE — One of the top midget AAA hockey teams in the country is now looking for a new head coach. The Tisdale Trojans have chosen not to renew the contract of head coach and general manager Darrell Mann.

It was a frustrating night at the Civic Centre for the Battlefords North Stars in game three of the Anavet Cup. Despite outshooting the Portage Terriers and despite coming back twice to tie the game, they ultimately lost 5-3.
