The first week of action from the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League is in the books, and a few teams have raced to an early 2-0 start.

HUMBOLDT 鈥� When Battlefords North Stars head coach Brayden Klimosko was asked about what allowed his team to win the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) championship, the Humboldt product deflected any praise to his players.

TISDALE 鈥� The Tisdale Trojans have selected their new coach. The team announced on Facebook that Dennis Kubat will serve in the position for the 2019-20 season. He was an assistant coach last season.

A unique glow-in-the-dark disc golf event is coming soon to Centennial Park. City council has given the go-ahead to an event planned for that location on Thursday, June 20, in conjunction with another gathering happening in the city.

The baseball season is on for the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League in 2019. The expanded league returned to action Monday night with a game in Lloydminster between the defending champion Border City Blue Jays and the Battlefords Trappers.

NIPAWIN 鈥� Prince Albert bull rider Tanner Byrne gave up his title to Jake Lockwood at the 7th annual Nipawin Professional Bull Riders (PBR). Byrne said while it 鈥渟ucked鈥� to lose the title, he was happy with how he did. He tied for third place.

MELFORT 鈥� After checking out his options, the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Most Valuable Player decided to stay close to home. Melfort Mustangs standout Justin Ball has committed to play and the study at the University of Saskatchewan.

Competitors from North Battleford high schools finished in the medals at the provincial badminton championship on the weekend in Swift Current.
