ENGLEFELD — A local swimmer has returned from the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games with two medals.

The Battlefords midget AA Barons have taken the Centre Four hockey league title, and their next stop is the provincial finals. They punched their ticket with a win Sunday over North East by a final score of 4-3.

The Battlefords North Stars are down to their last chance to finish off the Flin Flon Bombers in their quarter-final series. Game seven goes at the Civic Centre Tuesday night between the two teams, who are tied at three games apiece.

The Wilkie Outlaws are halfway to completing the double. The first half came to fruition Friday when they beat Macklin Mohawks 6-3 at Wilkie’s SaskCan Community Centre to sweep the Sask West Hockey League title in three games.

HUMBOLDT — The quarter-final series will be decided in a game seven. The Estevan Bruins defeated the Humboldt Broncos at the Elgar Petersen Arena 4-1 in game six of the quarter-final series March 24.

TISDALE — Three Tisdale Trojans were recognized when the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League announced its awards and honours last week.

On their second chance to do so, the North Stars couldn't move into the next round of playoffs Friday night.

HUMBOLDT — The Estevan Bruins clawed their way to a victory against the Humboldt Broncos by tieing the game late in the third period and winning in third overtime.

Standout performances in the first two games in their playoff series against Flin Flon have earned two Battlefords North Stars players SJHL weekly award honors.

The Battlefords North Stars must wait at least one more game to finish off the Flin Flon Bombers. The Bombers won 2-1 in overtime in game four for their first win of the series. It was the third straight game in the series to go to overtime.
