With a new addition to a team that鈥檚 otherwise been together for five seasons, Team Barker is aiming to represent Saskatchewan at the nationals.

Sherry Just wasn鈥檛 sure if she would compete in women鈥檚 curling this year. She decided to put a team together and is now competing in the provincials. 鈥淚 decided to go back to skipping a team this year,鈥� she said.

Two champions of the 2016 provincials are back with a new team to compete for the title here in Humboldt. 鈥淲e are aiming to make the playoffs and hope for the best, one game at a time,鈥� said Ashley Howard, the skip.

Team Eberle has a third-place finish from last year鈥檚 provincials to build on as they prepare to compete in Humboldt.

With the exception of one member, it鈥檚 the first time at the provincials for the newly formed Team Mitchell. 鈥淲e鈥檙e very excited to have been able to qualify for provincials on our first go,鈥� said Jessica Mitchell, the team鈥檚 skip.

A spectacular season so far for the John Paul II Junior Crusaders boys鈥� basketball team got even better on the weekend in Edmonton. The team took part in the Big Dawg Classic, which included top teams from the metro Edmonton area.
