The Battlefords North Stars saw their win streak to start 2019-20 come to an end Tuesday.

HUMBOLDT — A young Humboldt Broncos team has been thriving on the road early this season. The squad went 3-0 last week and is on a four-game winning streak.

TISDALE — As the season begins, the Tisdale Trojans are seeking continued improvement. The team went 1-1-0-1 last week. The Trojans shut out Yorkton, 6-0, on the road last Wednesday.

The dominating performance of the Battlefords North Stars’ forward Quintin Loon-Stewardson has earned him SJHL Player of the Week honours.

HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt Collegiate Institute football team was successful in its first road game of the season. On a rainy Thursday afternoon last week in North Battleford, the HCI Mohawks romped past the John Paul II Collegiate Crusaders, 41-16.

HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt Hammerheads held their annual awards night, acknowledging the work of the team throughout the season. The evening started off with the annual general meeting taking place.

The North Battleford Comp Vikings rebounded from their previous week’s defeat to earn a win over Evan Hardy at Saskatoon Minor Football Field. The final score was 34-31.

The season is under way for the Battlefords Sharks in female midget AAA hockey. But it could have been better for the Sharks as they opened regular season play in Gull Lake against the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats.

While the junior North Stars are off to a hot start to their SJHL season, the AAA midget Battlefords Stars are going in the opposite direction. The Stars are off to a 0-4 start, losing all of their contests on the road.

CARROT RIVER — The Carrot River Outback Thunder fell in its season opener, but displayed flashes of its potential. The young Outback Thunder squad lost 10-4 to Delisle on the road on Saturday night.
