At the February 7 meeting of the Kamsack branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, members accepted the application for membership of Wayne Woodward of Vancouver.

Tim Haltigin, the former Canora area resident who is in the running to become a Canadian astronaut, credits much of his journey to the Canora Composite School, his fellow students and their teachers.

The Learn to Skate program started in Kamsack at the Broda Sportsplex on January 11. With instructor Jenna Bowes of Kamsack, there is two half-hour sessions held every Monday, starting at 4 p.m., for the duration of 11 weeks.

The Bob Lebo rink of Preeceville won the first event of the Stenen Annual Open Bonspiel which was held from January 29 to February 5 with 17 teams participating.

Kamsack Novice Flyers placed third at their four-team hockey tournament played February 10鈥�12 at the Broda Sportsplex in Kamsack.

Winter recreation activities were reviewed by the Norquay Recreation Board at its regular meeting of January 9.

The Kamsack Atom Flyers 鈥渓earned about the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat鈥� during their five-team tournament on February 4 and 5. The Flyers were excited to have won all three games they played on Saturday, said Mike Eliuk, coach.

Town council has decided that only skating and hockey will be permitted in the rink arena at the Broda Sportsplex.
