The City of Weyburn held their annual Canada Day fireworks show at the end of day on July 1, firing the colourful rockets from the west end of the fair grounds. Thousands of residents packed the fair grounds and the parking lots across the highway by Sims Avenue, to watch the celebration of Canada's birthday.

A variety of activities were offered for families.

Canada Day was celebrated with a bike parade at Nickle Lake Regional Park on Saturday morning, with bright red-and-white decorations on the bikes. Children were able to take part in Canada Day crafts later, and an open-air market was held in the park area near the Beaver's Den. Later in the day, the Souris River Smoke BBQ competition will begin, and live entertainment will be held.

A flag ceremony for Canada Day was celebrated by the City of Weyburn, at the Weyburn Leisure Centre on July 1.

The City of Weyburn hosted Party in the Park on June 29, as part of celebrating Recreation Professionals Week.

A King's Carnival was hosted by the Lighthouse Church in Weyburn on June 25.

St. Michael School held their annual Field Day on Tuesday, the second-last day of school, with games and relay races set up all around the school yard. Some of the games had water involved to help keep the students cool on the hot summer day.

Weyburn fire fighters spent two evenings in training exercises at a house on Mergens Street slated for demolition. The Fire Department was able to conduct exercises including cutting holes in the roof using the ladder truck, and attack scenarios inside the house along with rescue techniques on Thursday and Friday.

The K-6 students of Legacy Park Elementary School had their play days on Thursday and Friday, with a variety of games and relay races set up around the school yard. The students were broken up into teams, with the full range of grades on each team, and they circulated between game stations through the morning, and then had a school swim in the afternoon.

The City of Weyburn's public works department, along with the police and fire departments, held an open house on Wednesday in the public works yard. City equipment and their workers were on site for people to see, along with police vehicles and equipment, and fire trucks and a display of fire equipment. In addition, the City had a free barbecue for residents, and police dog Oakley and fire dog Jessi were on hand to greet young visitors.
