Celebrating Nickle Lake Day on the long weekend

Many activities and displays were held as part of Nickle Lake Day on Saturday, from a show-and-shine with members of the Sooline Cruisers, to an outdoor market, bouncy houses, face-painting, and live music through the afternoon into the evening. Gallery: Re-enacting harvest-time from a long-ago era in Midale

The Souris Valley Antique Association in Midale brought the past to life again for Pioneer Echoes Days, with an antique tractor parade, and a threshing demonstration showing how harvesting used to be done in the southeast Saskatchewan region of 80, 90 and even 100 years ago. The parade and threshing demo were held at Midale's exhibition grounds on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Weyburn summer program tours the Soo Line Museum

Children in the City of Weyburn's Fun in the Sun summer program had a tour through the Soo Line Historical Museum on Wednesday, and then a picnic lunch as part of the day's activities. The large group was divided into smaller groups so they could tour through the museum and see all of the interesting artifacts, including the Charlie Wilson Silver Collection.

Grain safe rescue training provided by Weyburn Fire Department

A day-long training session was held by the Weyburn Fire Department on Saturday, to demonstrate techniques for safely rescuing a person trapped in a grain bin. A simulator of a grain bin was provided, and techniques for safely removing grain using rescue equipment were demonstrated, with the goal to reduce the pressure on the person to enable them to climb out, or be removed if they are injured.

Weyburn Silver Seals hosts swimming clubs for swim meet

The Weyburn Silver Seals swimming club hosted several swimming clubs from around Saskatchewan for a swim meet at the Weyburn Leisure Centre on Saturday. There were many volunteers on hand to help with the race timing and man the raffle tables and barbecue, as heats and finals were held for all age levels in all styles of speed swimming.

Weyburn U11 Beavers host Tier 4 Provincial Championships

This gallery shows action from the first game of U11 Tier 4 provincials for the Weyburn U11 Beavers on Friday, as they defeated the Saskatoon Cardinal Crushers 14-6 at Jubilee Park. They followed up with an 18-7 win on Saturday morning against the Sask. Five Knucklers team.
