Tributes are pouring in for a Saskatchewan man who blazed trails as an Indigenous NHL player. Fred Sasakamoose died Tuesday afternoon at the age of 86 after being hospitalized in recent days for COVID-19.

The Flin Flon Bombers’ games with the Battlefords North Stars are officially cancelled.

The Flin Flon Bombers will not hit the ice again until 2021. The SJHL announced Nov. 23 that the team would suspend operations until after the New Year after being unable to reach an agreement to continue play.

The biggest challenge facing the Battlefords North Stars this season seems to be just being able to get the club on the ice to play a game. It now looks unlikely they will host the Flin Flon Bombers on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Civic Centre.

The Battlefords AAA Sharks began their female U18 hockey regular season this past weekend, with a home and home series with the Prince Albert Northern Bears.

Two U18 games scheduled for this past weekend between the Battlefords AAA Stars and Tisdale Trojans were cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols. The games had been scheduled for Saturday night at the Civic Centre and for Sunday in Tisdale.

MELFORT — The Melfort Mustangs have announced they are postponing two games against the Battlefords North Stars due to a COVID-19 exposure. The games were planned for Friday, Nov. 27 in Melfort and Saturday, Nov. 28 in North Battleford.

TISDALE — Playing for the U18 AA Beardy’s Blackhawks last winter helped Jacob Cossette make the transition to the AAA level with the Tisdale Trojans this season.

HUMBOLDT — Luke Spadafora is thrilled to be finishing his junior hockey career in Humboldt – where it started. Seventeen games into his rookie season, 2018-19, with the Broncos, the Calgary product was traded to the Melville Millionaires.
