Senior boys earn provincial silver

Congratulations to the Borden senior boys' volleyball team who won silver at the provincial 1A playoffs Nov. 26 in Broadview. The boys played very well, defeating Kincaid, Vanguard and Bellevue St. Isodore in round robin play, only losing to Manor.

Battle of the Blades entertains large crowd

Five dollars - it can get you some junk food or a tavern beverage, but the feeling from that wouldn't last nearly as long or be nearly as much fun as attending Unity's own Battle of the Blades. This show had definite wow factor.

NCS students win prizes for stellar fundraising efforts

The elementary students at Neilburg Composite School did a wonderful job selling coupon books this year. They sold a total of 193 books. This is the most the school has ever sold.

Maidstone Gully 4-H Club kicked off its 54th year of learning to do by doing Oct. 3. The club has 14 members in five projects: Beef, Light Horse, Exploring 4-H, Clovebuds and Outdoorsman.

Band holds fundraiser for the Battleford United Church

The Keller Family Band is playing for a fundraiser for the Battleford United Church Dec. 2 from 7 to 9 p.m. The band, which has previously played at the Carlton Trail Jamboree, is made up of Colin Keller, his wife, and their five children.

District 35 has 13 4-H clubs

A District No. 45 4-H council meeting was held Oct. 20 in Hillmond. On the agenda were elections and committee formation. District president is Christina Jones and junior president is Michael Jones.

Fundraising project hits $1M mark

Today is the day all the Christmas displays and decorations should begin. I am a big fan of Christmas but dislike the hype that starts in October. I long for the 'good ole days' when Christmas was a December event.

Students experience Shakespeare

Maymont Centeral School Grade 5 to 9 students travelled to Saskatoon Nov. 24 to the Broadway Theatre. They watched an adaptation of Twelfth Night performed by Persephone Theatre.

Show and tell at PI Suites

Dorothy Kissick was to North Battleford for a check up after cataract surgery and everything is just fine. Jack Inkster of Edmonton stopped in for a visit with his mom Eva Inkster. Colleen Koski was in Lloydminster for a doctor's appointment Tuesday.
