Regular readers will know by now I have a particular interest in chess variants. While I recognize the familiar western chess is a classic, which I have not come close to mastering, I will admit to liking variety.

Under ten soccer teams compete in Regina

The Yorkton United FC Under 10 soccer program travelled to Regina Canada Day long weekend to compete in ACFC Summerfest Soccer Tournament. The first game was YUFC Kinsmen up against YUFC Storm, after a close game, YUFC Storm came out on top 2-0.

Lighting project gets go-ahead

Work first approved by Yorkton Council in 2010 will proceed following a unanimous decision of Council at its regular meeting Monday. Council approved the extension of Kelsey Bay and signalization of a new Broadway Street East intersection in 2010.

Star Search Winner

Sixteen-year-old Rikki Lee Hort of Endeavour, SK was chosen as the 2011 GX94 Star Search Champion at the Yorkton Exhibition on Saturday night. It was the first year in the competition for Hort, who has been singing since she was 10 years old.

Kambuster's drag racing set for Sunday
