Estevan residents have a lot of reasons to be proud of their community. We could dedicate a series of columns and editorials to the things that make this city and this region great, and still not manage to list all of them.

The editor: The Regina Rally Against the Carbon Tax was a great success on April 4.

For the past 28 years, I have used the same mechanical pencil to write my sermons. When I play squash, I use the lock that I used in high school gym class. I have a hair brush that I bought in Grade 7 (sadly, I don鈥檛 need it much these days).

One of the things I most enjoy about my morning bus rides is the interaction with other passengers and, in particular, those students who are studying English in our community.

The Alberta election really was Canadian democracy at its worst: a campaign that was frequently nasty and vicious, with attack ads from both sides.

Cheers to neighbours of a Lampman woman who cleaned out a Martin birdhouse and raised it. The woman had been trying to figure out how to do it. Cheers to Dr. Edward Krickan. His hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed.

One of my academic and artistic highlights came when I was in the fourth grade. Just like every other school in the country, Blacklock Elementary in Langley, B.C.

You know, it鈥檚 kinda odd. Jason Kenney hasn鈥檛 even taken office yet as premier of Alberta, yet the feeling I get both in the media and online is that he has already taken his place as the head of 鈥淭he Resistance,鈥� as Maclean鈥檚 characterized them.

The Weyburn Labour Council will be observing a solemn occasion on Sunday, April 28, as they will mark the Day of Mourning with a ceremony at the Tommy Douglas Centre.
