As hard as it is to believe, 2019 is in the rear-view mirror, and we鈥檝e moved on to not just a new year, but a new decade. The mood around the city has certainly changed, from the excitement of the boom times in 2010 to the uncertainty we face now.

Ever since I was a kid, New Year was the biggest, best, most wanted and my favourite holiday of the year.

I鈥檝e heard a few people mention the impending turn of the decade, that perhaps this will be another 鈥淩oaring Twenties.鈥� But for some of the youngest among us, it may feel like a countdown, as in, they have 10 years left to the end of the world.

鈥淎ngels we have heard on high, singing sweetly o鈥檈r the plains. And the mountains in reply, echo back their joyous strains.鈥� Lest you think I鈥檝e forgotten the joyousness of Christmas, I haven鈥檛.

I really was paying attention to the impeachment proceedings involving U.S. President Donald Trump. I just couldn鈥檛 bring myself to watch them live. After all, watching them would be a giant waste of time.

For the most part, ending cannabis prohibition in October 2018 proved to be a positive measure, especially in economic terms.

The Christmas pageant is usually a highlight of the year for a school. It鈥檚 a chance for students to showcase their talents while singing, dancing and acting, and there鈥檚 usually a packed house with parents and many other spectators.
