Carlyle Mayor, Councillors sworn in for new term

Mayor and Council sworn in Carlyle's Mayor and Councillors took their Oath of Office for a four year term at Town Council's regular meeting, held Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the Carlyle Civic Centre.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Carlyle's Mayor and Councillors took their Oath of Office for a four year term at Town Council's regular meeting, held Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the Carlyle Civic Centre. Mayor Wayne Orsted was re-elected by acclamation and welcomed council, saying: “Welcome back to the table, everyone. Congratulations on your election and re-election.â€

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Returning councillors are: John Brownlee, Dean Hoffman, Darcy Moore, Brian Romaniuk and Jenn Sedor; while Devin Faber is Carlyle's newest alderman.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý All members of council will act on a rotating basis as Deputy Mayor, if needed.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Administrator resignation

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Mayor Orsted and members of Carlyle Town Council accepted the resignation of Town Administrator, Hugette Lutz with regret. Lutz's resignation is effective April 28, 2017. The Town of Carlyle thanks her for her considerable contribution to the community and wishes her the best during her retirement.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Remembrance Day

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Councillor Jenn Sedor will represent the Town of Carlyle at the community's Remembrance Day Ceremony.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Town Office Christmas Hours

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Carlyle's Town Office will be closed Monday, Dec. 26 and Tuesday, Dec. 27.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Sun Country Health Region

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Councillors Brian Romaniuk and Jenn Sedor will attend an upcoming Sun Country Health Region meeting in Weyburn. Among the topics to be discussed will be physician retention in the region.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý SUMA meeting

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Town administrator Hugette Lutz and representative(s) from Carlyle Town Council will attend the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) meeting in Carnduff on Nov. 15.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý CES basketball court

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Council received a request from Carlyle Elementary (CES) School for funding for the repair of the school's basketball court. Council decided this request will be considered at budget time.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Asbestos removal

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Council approved an expenditure for $2,034 to remove asbestos from the old water plant.
