The Weyburn Arts Council invites all members of the public who have an interest in art to come out for an announcement on Thursday, Jan. 16, of a new public art project.

Sera-Lys McArthur is a member of the Pheasant Rump Nakota First Nation in southeast Saskatchewan. She grew up in Regina, attending Leboldus High School and then graduating from Campbell High School, spending her senior year there.

It was billed as a night to rock in the new decade at the Orpheum Theatre, and it certainly lived up to the hype. Canadian rock band Toque performed at the Orpheum on New Year鈥檚 Eve, to the delight of the 260 people in attendance.

The Estevan Humane Society is preparing for its largest fundraiser of the year. The annual Whiskers and Wine Gala will take place on Feb. 8 at the Estevan Exhibition building. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m.

Estevan might not technically be home for McKenzie Warriner, but it鈥檚 pretty darn close, and the city has played a big role in her development as a musician.

The next performance through the Living Room Live concert series will feature a pair of talented musicians. Violinist Gregory Lewis and pianist Paul Williamson will perform on Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Creighton Lodge lounge.

Entries are now being accepted for this year鈥檚 Estevan and District Music Festival. The registrations started Jan. 7 and will close on Feb. 7. Online entries will be accepted at the music festival鈥檚 website, emfd.musicfestivalsuite.com.

Voting for the 36 th annual James Weir People鈥檚 Choice Exhibition opens today, Jan. 7, at the Allie Griffin Art Gallery, with 22 works of art entered this year.

Ann Richards was born and raised on a farm near Assiniboia, but she currently resides in Vancouver. She graduated from the Assiniboia Composite High School in 2014.

It was billed as a night to Rock in the New Decade at the Orpheum Theatre, and it certainly lived up to its name. A raucous crowd attended a concert by Canadian rock band Toque in the main theatre Tuesday night.
