鈥淥ne of the most powerful handclasps is that of a new grandbaby around the finger of a grandfather,鈥� Joy Hargrove. I could not believe the strength of my new grandson as he clasped my finger this August.

This coming winter, anyone in need of a place to stay can look forward to a warm welcome, thanks to the efforts of the Estevan chapter of the Salvation Army and St. Paul鈥檚 United Church.

It鈥檚 an event that brings the community together each year to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for people in the Estevan area. The United Way Estevan鈥檚 39th annual telethon will open at 8 a.m. on Friday morning and continue until 5 p.m.

The new stage at the Woodlawn Regional Park鈥檚 Boundary Dam beach site is virtually complete, and the park鈥檚 staff and board members are optimistic the stage will make a big difference. The overall cost of the stage was around $30,000.
