Bigger Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League opponents are likely starting to be wary of battling against 5-foot-7 Tisdale Trojan Liam Rutten.

It was another performance to remember this weekend for the Robyn Silvernagle rink based out of Twin Rivers Curling Club. The rink won the Sask. Women’s Curling Tour bonspiel this weekend at the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon.

The Hafford Vikings have made it to the provincial final. The six-man football team won their 1A playoff semifinal at home against Â鶹ÊÓƵey on Saturday afternoon by a score of 98 to 32.

It was a fruitful southeast road swing this past weekend for the Battlefords North Stars. A wild 6-4 loss to Estevan Friday was followed up by a couple of 3-2 wins over Weyburn and then Notre Dame the next two days.

The 3A football playoffs have come to an end for the John Paul II Crusaders. The Crusaders lost to Humboldt Collegiate Mohawks 23-15 Saturday afternoon in the nine-man 3A semifinals at Crusader Field in North Battleford.

A local legend who was the namesake of Humboldt’s arena has died. Elgar Petersen passed away at his Cudworth nursing home on Nov. 3 at the age of 82. Jamie Brockman, the Bronco’s president, said Petersen meant a lot to his team.
