The North Battleford Comprehensive High School curling teams placed well in recent competitions and some players are off to the provincial level.

Playoffs continue for the Sask West Hockey League, with teams involved in both league semifinals as well as provincial senior action. The Macklin Mohawks continue to give the Kindersley Sr. Klippers all they can handle.

The Battlefords AAA Sharks are set to begin playoff action this week in Swift Current against the Wildcats. Game one goes Thursday night in Swift Current while game two goes Friday, March 8 at 8:15 p.m. at Battleford Arena.

The number one seed Battleford Beaver Blues brought their A game this weekend, beating Shellbrook 7-1 as part of Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League playoffs. The Beaver Blues dominated the second half of the game.

The Battlefords North Stars fourth straight division title will surely go down as their toughest to win. It took an overtime goal by Braydon Buziak for the North Stars to prevail 4-3 over the Kindersley Klippers in the season finale.

TISDALE — With two weekend wins, the Tisdale Trojans grabbed control of their playoff series. The Trojans came from behind to beat the Beardy’s Blackhawks 4-3 on Friday. In game two, goalie Tanner Martin and the Tisdale team shutout Beardy’s 4-0.

MELFORT — Alex Rondeau has seen large improvements in his game since he joined the Melfort Mustangs last September. So have his coaches. Rondeau was awarded with the Most Improved Player award at the Mustangs’ 30th award banquet.

HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt Broncos plan to keep busy for the almost two weeks between their last regular season game and their first playoff tilt.

HUMBOLDT — The Bruno Axemen senior men’s broomball team are going to the nationals. In the finals of the Saskatchewan provincial seniors broomball tournament, held in Humboldt March 1 to 3, the Axemen defeated the Odessa Renegades 3-2 in overtime.
