Patience Beard is an all-American girl, a college cheerleader for the Arkansas Razorbacks, and she is an amputee. Her left leg was amputated below the knee in childhood.

This Friday night the Dekker Centre will be hosting the sounds of the Blake Reid Band. The concert goes ahead at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 17. This is part of the band鈥檚 鈥淣o Roads In鈥� tour, in support of their music documentary and soundtrack album.

It was a more noteworthy than usual road game for the Battlefords North Stars in Melville Wednesday. The game marked the debut in a North Stars uniform for newly-acquired goaltender Kristian Lyon.
