The Government of Saskatchewan has issued a reminder to residents about Super Bowl Sunday. Football fans are asked to ensure a safe weekend and keep COVID-19 transmission low.

There is still no new word yet on when, or whether, the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League will have a season. Teams around the league remain in suspension as they wait for word from the province on whether a season can go ahead.

TISDALE — Tisdale-raised forward Connor Hvidston has signed a Western Hockey League (WHL) standard player agreement with the Swift Current Broncos.

The hockey season is still on hold and the male and female AAA under-18 leagues have now officially hit a pause button on their league schedule. Last week a joint statement was issued by Blaine Stork, president of the Sask.

EAST CENTRAL — The Lakeland District for Sports, Culture, and Recreation are encouraging people to get their vote on for their Wonderful Winter Spot Contest taking place on Facebook.

TISDALE — The Tisdale Trojans season has officially ended, with the league postponing the season due to the ongoing pandemic and health restrictions. The league postponement includes suspending all local team activities.

The Battlefords North Stars are not yet throwing in the towel on their hopes of resuming the 2020-21 hockey season.

The SJHL may not be back on the ice yet for real, but they are coming back this week — virtually. The SJHL has announced it is planning to hold a Virtual Showcase on the Twitch streaming platform on Jan. 29 and 30.

There hasn’t been much good news this season for the Battlefords North Stars, but they did receive a much needed dose of it on Friday.

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League will be receiving $1 million from the provincial government to help them and their teams survive the pandemic.
