Donna Gardi of Prince George, B.C. was here to visit her mom and dad, Lil and Milt McMillan. They all attended the wedding of Trevor Robb and Luell Fladeland at the stockade in Lloydminster. Donna returned home Monday.

It was busy weekend for residents of the village. Saturday was the annual clean-up day, when residents worked to get rid of debris, scrap materials and junked appliances.

It was interesting to see a small flock (about 10) of purple finches at the feeders this week. They are beautiful, busy little birds so it was a pleasure to have them around for a few days.

From ballet to hip hop, the walls of Don Ross echoed with the thunder of synchronized feet as the Battlefords Dance Festival Association held its 31st annual dance festival from April 25 to 27.

Bingo was played April 13 with Margaret MacEachern and Jean Hartman doing the calling. Lunch was provided by Bev Stewart and Dorothy Harmel. The loonie pot was won by Jean Stewart. The March-April birthday potluck supper was held April15 at 6 p.m.

On behalf of the Borden Lions Club, Archie Wainwright presented a cheque for $500 to the Borden Volunteer Fire Department, April 11, one of many donations that the Lion's Club gives locally.

As the audience finished their dinner and began to quiet in anticipation of the play they were about to see, director Roxanne Irvine took to the stage to introduce herself and the cast. "This is a comedy," Irvine said.

Is it spring or are we being teased some more? It is hard to revel in spring-like weather with all the surprises we have had with our seasons this year . . .

Badminton is in full swing and we have had many victories at Maidstone High. At Junior Divisions April 13, Danielle Hult and Tayler Bamford took first place in girls' doubles while Morgan Doepker and Jordyn Hope placed third.

Condolences go out to Donny Spence and family on the passing of Donny's mom, Helen Spence. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Birthdays on April 30 are Mary Carpentier, Ernie Voegeli and Herman Soule.
