Water rates rise again

Water rates in Yorkton are climbing for the seventh year in-a-row, but by the lowest rate in those years. This year the rate, which Yorkton Council unanimously approved at its regular meeting Monday, will be 2.75 per cent.

The McDonald's Atom hockey tournament over the weekend came down to Yorkton taking on itself to determine the winner on the 'B' side. Yorkton Richardson beat Yorkton B and K Trucking in the game played at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

Paul Blair Nestransky 1940 - 2011. Mr. Paul Blair Nestransky of Vulcan, AB passed away at Vulcan Extendicare on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the age of 71 years. He was born in Saskatoon, SK on August 9, 1940 to parents Helen and Paul Nestransky.

Yorkton Council gave third and final reading to its revised Property Standards Bylaw at the regular meeting of Council Monday.

Refuse collection fees rise

Refuse collection fees are rising in Yorkton following a unanimous decision made by City Council at its regular meeting Monday. With the 2012 city budget, residential refuse collection and the landfill are to operate on a self-sufficient basis.
