The Good Spirit School Division writer-in residence, Sigmund Brouwer, completed his second year at Preeceville School by signing books for Grades 4 to 8 students on June 26.

The Etomaimie Valley Riders horse club sponsored a gymkhana event on the Sturgis sports weekend on June 22 and 23.

Theft of barbecue The Canora/Sturgis RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in solving the following crime. On June 18 between 12:30 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. a barbeque was stolen from the back yard of a residence on Third Avenue West in Canora.

Members of the Amateur radio operators in the North Prairie Radio Club were joined by other radio operators in a second annual amateur radio field day on June 22. The field day was held at the acreage of Bob and Lorraine Drayer of Sturgis.

The community of Sturgis hosted the provincial lacrosse tournament with two of the three lacrosse teams claiming gold on June 14 to 16.

The Preeceville Wildlife Club sponsored a Fish Artwork contest with 41 student entries.

The Sturgis Drama Club presented a one-act play of The Complaint Department with Lemonade at the Sturgis Composite School on June 18.

The Sturgis sports grounds were alive with action when eager fans took to the grounds for the Sports and Rodeo weekend on June 22 and 23. The weekend kicked off with a pancake breakfast at the Sturgis READ Club.

This year, the Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show (also referred to as the Weyburn Oil Show) went all-out in getting guest speakers, and they surely did not disappoint.
