Simone Homeniuk is a new teacher at Canora Composite School (CCS) this year, but she’s not new to the school.

An interested group of Canora residents met to discuss a proposed housing project with Sylvester Hrynkiw, Canora economic development committee member; Brandi Zavislak, community development officer and Ken Rempel, developer.

The Canora Golf and Country Club was the host of a seniors’ (50-plus) golf tournament on August 28. The tournament was in a two-person scrabble and alternate shot format, including divisions for men, women and mixed.

The tradition of using working horses in the field is quickly becoming little more than a forgotten memory. Working to help preserve those traditions are a few dedicated teamsters that welcome the opportunity to showcase their horses.

Combines were rolling in the field harvesting 145 acres of oats that were seeded with the purpose of a fundraiser for the Sturgis Composite School playground equipment.

Cindy Smith the new principal at Canora Composite School (CCS), and is looking forward to the opportunity to be involved both in the school and the Canora community.
