The Canora Golf and Country Club held its annual Cheap Suit Golf Classic on September 10. The tournament is a friendly spoof of the well-known Masters event held in the United States.

Fall is often a challenging time for Canora’s Filling the Gap Food Bank, and this year is no different, said Pastor Mavis Watson, who has been running Filling the Gap as a volunteer for about the past six years.

The annual Canora Composite High School Pensioner’s Prom was hosted by the Class of 1970 on August 11 and 12 at the Canora Legion Dugout, said Gwen Westerlund, class member.

Nick Zawislak started farming at the age of 22 in 1949, and still enjoys helping his son Terry on the family farm north of Canora near Amsterdam during busy seasons such as harvest, even after celebrating his 90 th birthday on Saturday.

On September 3 a bear was spotted on the west side of Canora near the chicken barns, said Cst. Taunya Kondratoff, of the Canora RCMP. The bear made its way into Canora, and the RCMP were made aware of the situation at around 6 p.m., said Kondratoff.
