Five Grade 9 Health classes from the Weyburn Comprehensive School did up drug information posters, as part of the end of their unit on drugs and alcohol, and 54 posters were put up on the fence for the tennis courts at Jubilee Park on Friday, so people walking through the park can read the information the students put together

June 1 was the first full day at the Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show at the Weyburn exhibition grounds, and it included a visit by Premier Scott Moe and members of cabinet, and MP Pierre Poilievre, who is running as a candidate for the federal Conservative Party. There were also Legends of the Â鶹ÊÓƵeast Oilpatch and Hall of Fame inductees honoured, along with the Saskatchewan Oilman of the Year, Grant Fagerheim of Whitecap Resources, and Derrick Big Eagle as the Â鶹ÊÓƵeast Sask. Oilman of the Year.

Rain delays were the name of the games over the weekend in Weyburn, as the Weyburn Sr. Beavers first postponed their season-opener on Friday to Saturday for a doubleheader, and then the doubleheader was postponed to a later date. The Weyburn Motocross Association, meanwhile, was going to hold races on Sunday, and those also were cancelled, to a date not set as yet.

Local Ukrainian residents organized a lunch and supper fundraiser held at the Wheatland on May 22.

The cast of the musical "Grease" staged a flash mob as students ate lunch in the Colleen Weimer Hall on Wednesday. The spring musical will be performed at the Cugnet Centre on May 24-27 at 7 p.m., and on May 29 at 2 p.m., with tickets available at the Weyburn Comp School's office.

The Weyburn White Lightning ladies fastball team had a strong start to their 2022 season, with a 10-4 win over the Odessa Country Steelers on Sunday for the Borderline Ladies Fastball League. In the other games on Sunday, the Weyburn Shehawks defeated Pangman 11-9, and Ceylon won 24-4 over the Midale Knockouts.

Weyburn business students won second in the Social category, during the recent SBTA Case Competition and Conference.

The dance students from Weyburn dance studio Marley's Dance Effex put on a season-end recital on Sunday afternoon in the Cugnet Centre, with solos and duets starting the afternoon off, then groups performed for a full house. The dance studio collected food items for the Salvation Army's food bank at the door as admission.
