Cheers: Cheers to the crew at the City of Estevan who were responsible for planting and maintaining the city's flower beds last summer. The flowers were so beautiful and so well cared for. Hopefully the same crew is brought back this year.

It was a post that appeared on Facebook from the Government of Saskatchewan last week – an elevated risk of COVID-19 in Estevan due to variants of concern. And it featured a lot of the warnings we’re used to hearing.

On Monday, B.C. announced the extension of all COVID-19 measures through the May long weekend. Alberta hardly lifted their restraints. Manitoba expanded their restrictions amid the third wave as well.

Spam calls were the trending topic Thursday morning in the Estevan area. People were complaining about receiving a series of calls from Tunisia in a short period of time. It had to be a scam.

When Kevin Kinard was seven years old, his school went on a field trip to Arkansas’ Crater of Diamonds State Park. For the last 26 years, he has been going back to the park in search of diamonds. It is not a crazy quest.

The main topic this past week has been the weather. We are finally getting some moisture. We would have preferred getting rain than snow but grateful with the moisture we did get. At one point, it was almost like a blizzard out.

Hope everyone enjoyed their spring break. Now students will have two weeks of online learning, thanks to this pandemic showing its face once again. Good luck students, I’m sure you would just as soon be back at school with your friends and teachers.
