Today, RCMP employees across Saskatchewan wear red to pay tribute to Cst. Shelby Patton.

ÌýCst. Patton lost his life in the line of duty on June 12, 2021 while investigating a complaint of a stolen vehicle in Wolseley, SK. The heartbreak that Cst. Patton’s wife, family and friends are feeling right now is tremendous.

ÌýA local, grassroots initiative that sprouted from within the Indian Head Detachment area asked members of the public to consider wearing red on Tuesday to honour Cst. Patton and to show they stand beside his family, friends and the communities he served as they grieve his loss. The Saskatchewan RCMP is proud to join this poignant effort, and thank those who organized and spread word about it.

We invited others to wear red today to honour our fallen colleague and to show his loved ones that we support them and are mourning alongside them.

ÌýThis morning Indian Head Detachment members, together with multiple partner agencies, escorted Cst. Shelby Patton from Regina to Wolseley, SK. The procession also passed the Saskatchewan RCMP Headquarters building on Dewdney.

A private funeral service will be held by Cst. Patton’s family. We will not be sharing the details of this service publicly as a sign of respect for his loved ones.

We continue to receive many messages of condolence from the public which we will share with Cst. Patton’s family. Messages can be sent to: [email protected]
