Although Redvers has always celebrated Christmas as a community, this year they decided to do a little bit more, as they held the First Annual Redvers Winterfest 鈥� a full afternoon of activities and fun for all.

It鈥檚 not surprising that I鈥檝e been humming 鈥� Away in a Manger 鈥� these days (after all, it is the Christmas season) but actually I鈥檝e found myself thinking more about wood. Neither humorous nor particularly profound, here are my musings.

The Carlyle RCMP detachment responded to several calls between Thursday, Dec. 7 and Thursday, Dec. 14. 911/False alarms A call to 911 originated from a payphone in Redvers. A misdialled call to 911 originated in Carlyle.

The Carlyle PureChem Cougars took on the Redvers Rockets, Wednesday, Dec. 13. The away game was a close one for the Cougars, but they were unable to upset the Rockets who hold second place in league standings (information up-to-date as of Dec. 18).

This year, the Carlyle & District Food Bank provided a helping hand to clients from throughout this corner of Saskatchewan - an area of 3,200 square kilometres. This Christmas, the food bank sent out 117 hampers.

Congratulations to the GFK Senior Girls鈥� Volleyball Team and the coaches Mr. Trent Johnson and Amy Jackson. The Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association has awarded them with the 2017 Girls鈥� Volleyball Sportsmanship Award.

Clifford Shepherd Of Alameda, SK., and Naples, Florida passed away on Nov 3, 2017 after a long battle with Heart Disease, Osteoporosis and Cancer. Clifford was born in Alameda, SK., on Aug 3, 1927 to Victor and Irma (Knebush) Shepherd.
