It's close to sixteen years since I was first invited to submit a weekly column to some of my favourite publications. With the exception of a few trips to the hospital I haven't missed sending in any musings.

When it comes to farming, at least in terms of Prairie grain and oilseed producers the issues which impact profitability are many.

Between Feb. 8 and Feb. 14 the Carlyle detachment of the RCMP received 38 calls. On Feb. 8 RCMP were called to attend a collision west of Redvers on Highway 13. There were no injuries.

On Saturday, March 2, the Moose Mountain Lions are excited to host their third annual Winter Carnival.

Lest there be any doubt that Saskatchewan is changing to a more urbanized place, consider a couple of news items in the last week.

For the first time ever the town of Wawota will be hosting Relay for Life. The event is planned for June 15; but, an informational evening will be held on March 4 for the town of Wawota and surrounding communities to learn more.

For the first time since its inception in 2007, We Day will be held in Saskatchewan. It is being hosted on Feb. 27 in Saskatoon at the Credit Union Centre. Expected to attend are 15,000 students and teachers from 300 schools across the province.

PETTERSON: Lloyd Kenneth Petterson passed away at Deer View Lodge, Wawota, on January 22, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Lloyd was born on January 30, 1933 on the farm south of Estevan.

Everyday it becomes more and more frightening to be living along number 13 highway. A long a busy road with no emergency health care available. And things have just gotten worse.

William Anderson Young 1918 - 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William (Bill) Young at the age of 94. Bill was born in 1918 in his grandparents' home on the north half of 19,8,2, west of the 2nd, near Carlyle, Saskatchewan.
