Saskatoon firefighters called to fatal fire

Fire Investigator will work conduct a fire investigation when practical and will work with the Saskatoon Police Service.

SASKATOON - The city of Saskatoon has seen a fatal structure fire. Few details are available but the fire department confirms a death.

At 9:13 a.m. on June 28, the Saskatoon Fire Department Communications Centre received a report of a possible fire in the 600 block of Avenue N Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. Three fire engines, one rescue unit, one ladder truck and the Battalion Chief were dispatched. Fire crews arrive at 9:16 a.m. and reported smoke from the roof and visible inside a structure.  

At 9:28 a.m., fire crews located a person inside the structure and removed the patient.  The fire was brought under control at 9:43 a.m. A fire investigator was requested and attended the scene.  

The lone occupant removed by firefighters has passed away.

The department's fire Investigator will work conduct an investigation when practical and will work with the Saskatoon Police Service. No other details are available at this time. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
