Suspects charged in Wahkia Ewalk's homicide returned to Regina

The fatal shooting occurred in the early hours of May 30 on Marshall Crescent.

A GoFundMe with the goal of raising $14,000 has been launched for Wahkia Ewalk's family.

REGINA – Two suspects charged in connection to the May 30 shooting death of 22-year-old Wahkia Ewalk have been brought back to Saskatchewan to face their charges.

Angus Fox, 32, and Herb Fox, 34, were arrested by Edmonton Police Service on June 3 and have now been transported from Edmonton to Regina.

Angus Fox is charged with first-degree murder and made his first appearance in Regina Provincical Court Thursday.

Herb Fox, charged with accessory after the fact to murder, appeared in court Wednesday. He was remanded in custody and the case was adjourned to Friday to give him time to get counsel.

Carleen Ewalk has launched a GoFundMe to help cover funeral costs, support her son’s pregnant wife and young children, and assist the family in attending the upcoming trial.

The fatal shooting occurred in the early hours of May 30 on Marshall Crescent. Regina Police Service officers responded to reports of gunfire and found Wahkia deceased outside a home.

“He was shot from behind by some gang members, he didn’t know them,” said his mother.

Carleen hopes her son will be remembered as a loving father, husband, and selfless protector. She said his loyalty was unmatched and he was the backbone of their family.

“He was loyal to everyone he cared about,” she added. “He always stopped to help the homeless. Even if it wasn’t very much he still helped with what he had. He put everybody before himself.”
