REGINA - The City of Regina says it is actively supporting nearly 1,200 evacuees displaced by wildfires in northern Saskatchewan.
In a statement, the City says it is providing those evacuees access to transit, local amenities and leisure activities.
The City is asking the public and media to respect the privacy of evacuees, and to refrain from visiting temporary shelters and to allow individuals the space they need to recover.
They further state that the City of Regina "remains committed to aiding the Canadian Red Cross and Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency in their ongoing response efforts and ensure the well-being of evacuees through housing and other essential services."
