Athletes should be free to celebrate. There is a lot of commotion made these days about athletes and their celebrations, especially with Cam Newton of the Super Bowl bound Carolina Panthers.

Canadian Blood Services was in town last week to collect blood donations. Humboldt exceeded their goals on the number of donors which made Jeff Martel with Canadian Blood Services grateful for the generosity of Humboldt. There is more to be done.

With snow on the ground and spring several weeks away, I鈥檝e been trying to warm myself up by thinking about hot things. Since this is a gardening column, I鈥檒l focus on hot peppers.

I鈥檓 really fond of my new car. Penny (you figure it out), a brand, spanking new Chevy Cruz, and I have been united for the past few months. For several years I鈥檝e been driving a three-quarter ton truck, known to me as Horace.
