The Battlefords AAA Sharks came up short in their attempt to even the season series with Melville, as well as capture their first win of the season.

Some teams were beginning the regular season, others were playing after a long break and some just simply picked up where they left off from the previous weekend.

One Battlefords North Stars rookie had a breakout game offensively, but it wasn't enough, as the North Stars surrendered four goals in the third period and lost 6-5 to the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

Although there were no North Battleford teams playing, two regional soccer playoffs took place in North Battleford, and local area teams advanced to provincials. In the seven versus seven boys' playoffs Cando earned regional gold.

The luxury of having ice in rinks before many of the other communities in the league, means hockey is already in full swing for the Battlefords teams. Atom AA Barons The AA atom team had a home and away game on the weekend and earned one win.
