The Blaine Lake Community Association (BLCA) hosted its annual Wayne Horner Open spiel Jan. 13 with six rinks registered. The funspiel is held annually in memory of Wayne Horner who was very instrumental in establishing the BLCA.

The 11th place Battlefords Midget Stars hosted the seventh place Tisdale Trojans on the weekend and it was the Stars earning two big wins on home ice.

The Christmas break finds the Humboldt Midget AA Broncos in first place after playing 11 games. With a 9-2-0 record, the Broncos have been able to continue their winning ways from last season when they won both provincial and league championships.

The Battlefords North Stars were in La Ronge Tuesday, but fell 4-3 to the top team in the Bauer Conference. Doug Lindensmith led the way for La Ronge with two goals, while Travis Eggum scored and Graham Smerek had the game-winning goal.
