Tuesday evening college players from around North America were looking for new homes in the CFL draft. Despite a rough, 3-15 season for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, they were at least able to salvage something with the first overall pick.

The North Battleford senior Beavers have a fresh start in 2016 after a subpar NSRBL season just a year ago. An elongated campaign, bumping the amount of games to 16 from 13 last year, may help the bats get to where they need to be.

Bryce Gervais of the Battlefords has recently signed a contract to play with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. Gervais joined the Wolves March 24 of last season, signing an amateur tryout contract.

Baseball is back in the Battlefords and the midget AA Beavers opened their season by sweeping the Lumsden Cubs in dramatic fashion.

Rory Davidson will be bringing his talent to Concordia University in Edmonton to play for the Thunder next year. "I chose Concordia because I liked the direction they are headed as an organization," the forward said.

Although the Battlefords Sharks are currently rebuilding for next season, there have been quite a few standouts who are finding success at the college level.

Luke Reid of the AAA Stars is now a prospect of the Victoria Royals after being selected in the second round of the WHL bantam draft with the 27th overall pick. 鈥淎t times he was our strongest guy.

The Humboldt Synchronized Swimming Club hosted their spring water show on May 1 at the Humboldt Aquatic Centre.

Jody Reiter and Martin Smith have stepped down from their coaching duties with the Battlefords AAA Stars. There will be some big shoes to fill, as Reiter and Smith led the Stars to back-to-back league final appearances in 2014 and 2015.
