What looked like another Battlefords North Stars shellacking of the Yorkton Terriers turned into a night at the fights Friday at the Civic Centre. Two big scraps erupted in the third period.

TISDALE — Skaters from across the prairies came out to Tisdale to compete in the Prairie Regional Synchronized Skating Championships. Tisdale had four teams compete.

The Battlefords North Stars lost Wednesday to the Melfort Mustangs 5-3, and with it, took an immediate drop in the tight SJHL standings. The win moved the Mustangs a point ahead of the North Stars in the overall standings.

TISDALE — Kalen Ukrainetz is greatly enjoying his second season with the Tisdale Trojans. The 16-year-old forward from Wynyard is fourth on the team in scoring, as of Sunday.

The strong play of Battlefords North Stars’ forward Brett Gammer has not gone unnoticed in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Gammer received honours this past week as the DirectWest SJHL Rookie of the Week.

Here is a rundown of the action this past weekend from the senior leagues, which wrapped up their regular season activities. SPHL Playoff matches are set in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League.

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt Broncos goaltender Rayce Ramsay doesn’t shy away from the pressures of his position.

The Battlefords AAA Stars had their first home game since Jan. 23 at the Civic Centre, but it didn’t go too well as they fell to the Prince Albert Mintos 5-3.

HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt Broncos are excited to get back on the ice. The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League team is slated to tangle with the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox on Wednesday. The Broncos last played on Jan. 26.

TISDALE — Tisdale Trojans defenceman Jeremy Hancock has had goaltenders seeing red lately. As of Sunday, the 15-year-old rookie had scored in each of his last three games. All four of Hancock’s goals this season have come since Ukrainian Christmas.
