For the sisters of St. Elizabeth, the year 2011 has been an eventful one, starting with the centenary celebration and a special exhibit commemorating the anniversary of the arrival of the first sisters in Humboldt.

The unprecedented flooding in Saskatchewan this year has caused the provincial government to invest an additional $66 million into the Highways and Infrastructure budget for 2011.

It was a busy weekend at the Humboldt Area Vintage and Antique Club. The club held their annual Vintage Days on August 27-28 at the club's grounds south of Humboldt.

Runners from Humboldt and district enjoyed a beautiful day for a run. The Humboldt and District Hospital Foundation (HDHF) held their second annual Have a Heart Run on August 28.

It was a beautiful week of soccer and fun for many soccer players in Humboldt. A Challenger British Soccer Camp was hosted by the Humboldt and District Soccer Association August 22-26.

It was a great experience for a local musician. Gerard Weber, a saxophone player from Humboldt, recently placed second in his category in the National Music Festival in Antigonish, Nova Scotia August 11-13.

September will be a busy month for the Humboldt Big Brothers Big Sisters organization (BBBS). The month has been declared as the official BBBS month and the organization has started making big plans to promote their organization in the community.

WILSON: The death of Mrs. Denise Anne (nee Zimmerman) Wilson of the Annaheim district occurred at Humboldt Airport, Humboldt, SK, on Saturday, August 20, 2011. She was 40 years of age.

BLOCK :The family is sad to announce that Mrs. Elsie Block, of LeRoy, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the age of 89. Elsie was born on December 9, 1921 in Wartega, Poland to Gustav and Saraphine (Zacharias) Adam.

LEUSCHEN: Joe Leuschen passed away peacefully as a result of brain cancer at Agape Hospice, Calgary AB at the age of 55 years. Joe grew up near Bruno, SK, 7th child of Martin and Loretta (Knoke) Leuschen.
