April 30, the Borden Care Home Auxiliary held a spring tea in the care homewith a few dropping in for lunch. Gerbera daisy door prizes went to Dot Buswell, Shirley Jacobsen and Gail Schoenroth.

Baseball season has begun. After several weeks of practice indoors, one bantam, one peewee and possibly four mosquito baseball teams have begun practice and will soon have games on the diamonds.

Sentence too lenient

Dear Editor I have been filled with anger, disgust, and sadness since I learned of James Larose getting sentenced for killing his six month-old-son (Larose sentenced for manslaughter, Regional Optimist, April 29).

Nuclear expert proven wrong

Dear Editor Within hours of the realization that the earthquake in Japan had played havoc with a nuclear power plant in that country, a CBC Radio reporter spoke to a nuclear scientist in Vienna. He was both defensive and dismissive, in my opinion.

Minor Baseball set to start

Practices have causally started for Battlefords Minor Baseball players. Finalizing the teams and schedules will be done in the next few days and the regular seasons will begin.

It was great to see everyone out who attended the potluck supper at the Maymont Seniors' Centre April 27. The evening's entertainment was by Mel Deagnon, Tom Caldwell, Bert Carpentier, Cindy Galley and Vivian Seib.
