The opening day of the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League was Tuesday and four teams were in action. In St. Walburg, the Reds fell 12-11 to the Unity Midgets.

Fire crews battled a suspicious shed fire at the Battlefords Co-op Home Centre last week. The shed fire broke out around 4 p.m. May 17. North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services found a small amount of grass burning in a wooden garden shed.

The Cameron McIntosh Airport was a hub of activity May 18 as crop-duster aircraft got a much-needed workout. Battlefords Airspray calibrated their aircraft for inspections, conducted every two years in order to meet government requirements.

Dear Editor To me democracy has always meant "government of the people and for the people." Since Mr. Harper has been prime minister, this has not held true. He promised everything would be different if he was elected with a majority government.
