N. Battleford community barbecue brings neighbours together

More than 350 gather at Centennial Park.

NORTH BATTLEFORD — On June 4, North Battleford embraced the spirit of community at its annual community barbecue, held at the Centennial Splash Park from 5 to 7 p.m.

Since its inception in 2015, the community barbecue has remained a staple of North Battleford’s social calendar, continuing to draw an enthusiastic crowd. This year, approximately 350 to 400 people came together to enjoy food, conversations and the warm summer atmosphere.

“It’s a community barbecue for people to learn more about the parks and recreation, show them what we do,” says Michelle Horncastle, general manager of Innovationplex.

“But it’s also for people to come out and meet their neighbours. This is how we stay connected in an area.”

The organizers aim to host two such events each year, rotating locations to encourage participation from different neighbourhoods within the community.
