NORTH BATTLEFORD — Centennial Park in North Battleford was the venue for a regional SOLE-stice Classic track and field meet May 31.

The excitement of the annual athletics competition unfolded as young athletes aged eight to 13 showcased their skills in sprinting, long jumping and ball throwing.

Sponsored by Aboriginal Track & Field of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Athletics, this spirited event not only celebrated athletic prowess but also sparked a passion for track and field among participants who may have been new to the sport.

The competition served as a pathway for the top two finishers to vie for provincial honours.

“It’s amazing to watch the kids,” shared Karen Wharington, regional co-ordinator. “They genuinely enjoy it, and many of them are experiencing track and field for the first time. It's refreshing to see them have fun and embrace the experience.”
