HUMBOLDT — Home sweet EPA. For the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey players, the Elgar Petersen Arena is truly a home away from home. The players, who spend countless hours there, appreciate the complex and its history.

The Flin Flon Bombers played a great game in Humboldt Thursday night - for about 58 minutes, that is. Two goals in the last two minutes doomed the Bombers to a 3-2 loss.

It took a shootout for the Battlefords North Stars to come through with a 5-4 win over the Melfort Mustangs on the road Wednesday night. It was Rylan Nivon who scored the winning marker in the shoot out frame to lift the North Stars to the victory.

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings hosted the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Wednesday night and fell 4-0.

The Estevan Bruins had their highest single-game goal total in nearly four years in a 10-2 victory over the Melville Millionaires on Wednesday night in Melville.

Yorkton’s Junior ‘A’ hockey franchise has entered a new partnership with a local business. The deal will mean a new name for the longtime franchise, which for the remainder of the current season will be known as the Yorkton Hyundai Terriers.

The Yorkton Terriers had a good home outing Saturday dropping the visiting Melville Millionaires by a 5-2 score. Terrier head coach Mat Hehr said the latest edition of the team is finally starting to mold into form.

It doesn't matter who plays in net for the Flin Flon Bombers - they'll still win inside the Whitney Forum. Matt Sankner made his season debut in maroon and white and was able to lead the Bombers to a 4-2 victory over Kindersley Oct. 5.

The Estevan Bruins once again gave the defending SJHL champions, the Battlefords North Stars, all they could handle, but came up short in a 2-0 loss Friday night at Affinity Place. It was the Bruins fifth straight loss.
