Dear Editor: The Kidney Foundation "Give The Gift Of Life" Fun Run/Walk held in Yorkton on June 26, 2011 raised pledges of $10,305. Raffle proceeds of $2270 were donated to the Yorkton Hemodialysis to help with purchasing new chairs.

Yorkton Council has unanimously approved the naming of a private street in the city.

City starts commercial development

A new commercial subdivision is going to be developed in the City of Yorkton following unanimous approval of Yorkton Council at its regular meeting Monday.

Brodie storm pond tender

The storm water holding pond along Brodie Street is progressing with Yorkton Council approving digging of the pond at a tendered cost of $311,800. Three tenders were received with the lowest coming from Curtis Construction Ltd. at $311,800.

The SHHS Jr. Girls Volleyball team took part in the Yorkton Regional High School junior girls' volleyball tournament. The Saints were part of a four-team pool 'B' which included Canora, Estevan and Melville St. Henry's.

Armed robbery at nightclub

Yorkton Municipal RCMP responded to an armed robbery at Holly's Night Club at 7 pm on Sunday night. A lone suspect wearing a hooded jacked entered the business, threatened the employee on duty with a weapon, and demanded money.
