Welcome to Week LXXXIII of 'Fishing Parkland Shorelines'. Like most of us I am a novice fisherman, loving to fish, but far from an expert.

While it's disappointing to hear several hundred Saskatchewan potash workers will be out of jobs this Christmas season, I can't help but wonder if the union could have saved some, or all, of these positions by negotiating concessions for all staff.

While people often lament what there is to do in Yorkton, the comments do seem to come more often in winter, because cold tends to keep us a bit closer to any sort of apparatus which offers even a modicum of warmth.
